Weekend Classics - Evil Dead: Army of Darkness

Sam Raimi finishes his hat trick trio by sending Ash(Bruce Campbell) back in time to face against the darkness a third and final time. At first viewed with speculation and believed to be part of a conquering army, Ash is dragged forward by his captures to pay for his imagined crimes. However on seeing his amazing ability to survive(it's as if Ash were in Return of the Jedi vs a Rancor) the supernatural and his 'boom-stick' the primatives turn to Ash to aid them in their battle. Ticked off, chainsaw armed and out of time, Ash sets out to be as groovy and awesome as he can and how can he not with that chin!

Only one name needs mentioning Bruce. Campbell. His badass and arrogant nature this time around win out as he's pushed to the limit (wouldn't you if it's happened twice before!) and Campbell makes us remember the character of Ash so much so that he's a cult hero! With brilliant yet terrible one liners and his cheesy completely off the page remarks generations will view Ash as one of the greatest and classic cult heroes to have faced the undead several times with only a chainsaw and shotgun.

So should you invest time in this? its not the best of the Evil Dead series to be fair (its hard to decide out of Evil Dead or Its sequel Dead by Dawn which is the greatest film ever made) however just to see Ash in another film and this time going completely over the top is one of the greatest things to ever grace human eye balls. It's a classic, not a briliant film but a classic, its nineties dumb feel is there throughout and gives it that crazy edge. The best way to describe Army of Darkness? Imagine Die Hard's John Mclane winding up in the world of Monty Python and the Holy Grail, if that's not for you then you don't like good films but seriously this is dumb, insane and copletely over the top nineties fun. See this film.

"Hail to the king baby!"

Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol

Impossibly the fourth in the franchise isn't a mission too far and proves itself a worthy edition. Ethan hunt is back, after breaking out of prison in Moscow with the help of the IMF he's brought up to speed and forced into a new mission to infiltrate the heart of Russia itself, the Kremlin. Mid mission things go sour and the operation is called off as Hunt still in disguise escapes the Kremlin behind him bursts into flames, the Russians view this as an act of war sending Hunt and his team on the run. Meeting with the secretary of defense in secret Hunt is informed that the whole IMF has been disbanded, Hunt is on his own and the orders are to take him in... Unless he chooses to accept a new mission. The president activates ghost protocol meaning the remnants of the IMF must on their own discover who's responsible for bombing the Kremlin, bring them to justice and at the same time prevent a nuclear holocaust sparking between Russia and America.  Tom Cruis...

Taken 2

So Liam Neeson is back and doing what he apparently does best searching and destroying. Bryan Mills is off on a bodyguard detail in Istanbul for a stint while his ex family sits safe and sound in the USA. Of course, going through some difficult times with the new husband, ex Mrs Mills, Lenore and daughter Kim decide to surprise Bryan before he heads home.  Though with Bryan Mills a quick brush of sun can't happen without a gun being pointed at him or his daughter, this time round a lavish dinner turns into kidnapping with both himself and Lenore the targets. Realizing his nemesis this time round is grieving father of his previous punching bags, he's in for a tricky one in getting out of the deep end. Speaking of deep ends, daughter Kim's rejuvenation by the pool is cut short when the father must make a disciple of his child if he is to escape and save his wife's life. Together Bryan and Kim must set about to crashing across Istanbul before time runs out wit...

Scream 4

First off this is the only scream I've ever seen, so i can't in anyway compare it to the previous three however and can give a definitive view on 4, and I'm going to be honest i don't often watch a lot of horror then again films but then again this isn't really a classic horror style film more over its an awesomely good satirical look at what horror films try to be. It starts off with a star studded mock film within a film within a film(a bit like inception)called Stab and several sequels and when i comes to the actual film and the murders start flying, its already started to entertain. The main flow of the story kicks off when Sidney Presscott(the survivor of the first three) returns to her home of Woodsboro to promote her book and all hell breaks loose and the events that occurred 15 years prior begin to repeat themselves but this time for her cousin Jill Roberts and her group of friends. Every role in this film is good but i did really enjoy the idiot cop routin...
