Limitless

Limitless. The idea, the concept, the cast, i really wanted to enjoy this, from the moment i saw the trailer i said 'i'm seeing this!' yet in reality nothing is as good as the drug NZT, which enhances you to the point where your intelligence mocks that of Einstein and gives you the charisma to sleep with any woman in sight. Bradley Cooper (great in previous films like The Hangover and the admittedly over the top A-Team) seemed quite bland as the drug addicted writer-turned-businessman Eddie Morra, maybe its not that his acting was out of place but the character just seemed really dull. Robert De Niro seems to be a wasted talent (with a very short amount of screen time) his character is shown as a big businessman who acts at first as push for Eddie into a business tycoon, who then turns to a potential threat. The third and really final  main character playing Eddie's girlfriend is Abbie Cornish who honestly only appears at points where the a random character is needed to

The Lincoln Lawyer

Smart, flashy and full of spirit, adding Matthew McConaughey would usually ruin the films credibility so shock horror i was amazed that i actually really enjoyed this court room drama, all the acting is well performed, you actually want McConaughey to win in the end, and you really want that posh little git to go down, and i myself was even saddened by the death of his friend Frank AKA 'the shoveler' his mustache held my gaze in every scene it appeared, it was terrific. My main point being that you actually felt something for the characters a clear idea of who to route for and who to condemn, which ironically is the main problem McConaughey's character faces, as a lawyer defending 'Posh git' who he comes to realize actually did the crime he's being accused of and a previous murder McConaughey was again the defense and pushed his client for a guilty plead, now he realizes, he made the wrong assumptions. I find it fascinating how good McConaughey is in this, whi

Battle: Los Angeles

what can i say? alien invasion, humanity is doomed and only a handful of US marines seem to be able to put up a(despite being awful)resistance to the other worldly home wreckers. well for starters i thought Aaron Eckhart was well cast(he also gives a good morale speech although unfortunately it felt like that was the best bit)as for the others... not so much(especially Michelle Rodriguez, why does Hollywood insist on throwing her a gun and making her play a grizzled tomboy in every single movie) at the begging it takes a look at several of the key soldiers personal positions in life, which in comparison to the rest of the film doesn't seem necessary, and really everything that is pointed out at the beginning is re-clarified later on. i find the worst part of the film was the alien design, i couldn't understand why they looked like goop with legs, if the planet is going to be taken by a ferocious alien attack i want them to at least look the part, like Xenomorphs(Aliens) or Pr

The Adjustment Bureau

It's good, but it's not great. Usually, most films with Matt Damon in a leading role are marked with 'AVOID' for me, nothing against him personally but i can't seem to get into a film with him in it (Not including Dogma, but i mean come on that film was awesome) in this however i managed to leave the cinema not wanting to cause self harm like his other recent film 'Hereafter' and did actually gain some enjoyment from it. The key plot of the film, is the adjustment bureau, a shady organization who basically keep the world in check and apparently have been around for a while making sure certain things happen in a certain way, however, when David Norris, a young and upcoming New York politician meets mystery girl Elisa and falls head over heels, they step in and attempt to make adjustments to both of their lives to ensure they never meet again. So the idea is David, determined to be with Elisa no matter what goes against the bureau and wont stop until he can
