Men in Black 3

Here come the Men in Black, The boys are back in town or at least one of them is with the other looking considerably younger and dare i say peppy. On a secret moon prison far above the earth, the menacing alien threat Boris the Animal finds a way to break free and exact his revenge on the MIB agent responsible for his stint in LunarMax, K. Meanwhile J and K are up to the usual MIB day-to-day business of bringing galactic menaces to judgment this time in a Chinese restaurant, when Boris turns up to goad K with his freedom the two agents find themselves at a difference of opinion and split off K reminiscing other past mistakes and J broading over his incomprehensible partner once again. On arrival at MIB HQ the next day J finds that K has vanished from everyone's memories and informed by Agent O that K died in 1969, confused by the apparent change to the time space continuum J soon comes to the conclusion that Boris is responsible and sets out to stop him and set time back on track. Time-Jumping back to 1969 J has to find and stop Boris yet finds himself needing help in the form of 1969 K, the time challenged duo joint force comes up against Boris' own duo but only one history can exist, can J and K stop an overwhelming alien menace for a Third time? (Or first depending on which way you're looking at it) What are the secrets that turned K into such a troubled individual? And can J save K, Earth and the future before time runs out?

Will Smith throws his all into the character as can be expected from his eagerness to shine in all films, not to mention the love people already have for the character of J which despite 10 years difference from the second still feels as fresh and enjoyable as the first film. Only Tommy Lee Jones can pull of the lovable and gruff nature of Older K and with the onscreen times he has, he brings K back in full force like Smith to show that even with age the characters are as full of life as ever, Although as a Younger K it has to be said Josh Brolin is amazing especially the voice! It's obvious the man has a love of the franchise as much as both Jones and Smith with such a brilliance bought to the character you feel as if he is actually Jones at points his performance is that good almost enough to steal the show from Smith! Jermaine Clement puts his face forward for Boris the Animal who is the menace to time and space this time around, while not having the same sheen as Edgar the Bug he still gives his all into making the character as stand out as possible amongst his co-stars. Emma Thompson throws in her two cents as Agent O for a brief stint as the new head of MIB (RIP Z!) and while it's short she adds a layer of intrigue which overall helps build the character of J to a further extent and keeps up the entertainment and banter with Smith.

Men in Black was a classic and while the sequel may have veered to far for some peoples likes I still found it an enjoying trip into the MIB world, so when it turned into a three-quel I was hesitant like many I know who remembered the first film with fondness. When I sat down i'll be honest expecting much from this venture I was not, yet to be honest in comparison to what I was expecting I was rather surprised by how entertained I actually was. While MIB 3 won't be the most memorable film you've ever seen and in terms of blockbuster films will fall steadily behind to the likes of Prometheus and The Dark Knight Rises, it's entertaining, fun and enjoyable with enough childish abandonment to appeal to all ages. With amazing performances from the big roles and shimmering charm and style with it's 60's sci-fi vibe means even if you were left disappointed by MIB 2 that's no reason to skip the third act. Yes the story is a bit flimsy and the back-story of K feels a bit pushed and thrown out there at the last second but this is Men in Black, you don't go to the flicks for it's mind numbing and life asserting questions, you see it for the silly and humorous charm Smith, Jones and Brolin bring to the big screen and that reason alone should be enough to put any doubts behind you and out the door to see this.

Oblivion

Cruise is back doing what comes naturally. No, not impossible missions, this time round Cruise is back on Sci-fi but instead of running from crimes he already commit in the future(How long has it been now since minority report?) he finds himself the maintenance man of a post-apocalyptic earth in 2077. Jack Harper is technician #49 of a group specifically tasked with keeping Earth's remaining defences up and running, alongside partner Victoria he awaits the coming full transportation to the new human colony on Titan. Being one of the last to leave Earth, both are anxious about the final few days of maintenance before they can finally leave the blue planet behind them, though for different reasons. While Victoria is increasingly eager to start a new life, something digs at Jack who still relates some connection to the planet no matter how void of life. It's only after a crashed pod brings an echo of human life back to earth that Jack and Victoria are torn in their views, as Jack

Godzilla: King of the Monsters

The Year is 2019. The Avengers have won. DC is almost nowhere to be seen and the Dark Universal Monsters Universe has hopefully been lost somewhere in the black sea. Wait... What is that? Is that a monster movie?? Is that Japans great lizard/Americanised cousin? Yes. Yes it is and he's here to show the world what he's made of! While first reading this you'll most likely be saying 'Wait. stop. Isn't that the Godzilla movie which critics are panning and hasn't scraped the box office??? Well on a technical level you'd be right, but sit right there and let me riff a little here; Godzilla: King of the monsters takes a giant radioactive step from the world of 2014's first outing for the new Godzilla and actually shows more than 8 minutes (No really go back and see just how much he's in the film...) of the big green not referring to Mark Ruffalo but japan's own green wrecking machine. Godzilla is king. Especially in terms of monster brawls and I can

The Three Musketeers

Paul W.S Anderson takes a break from zombies to bring a new adaption of the musketeers and their thrilling adventures or so they should be. Athos, Aramis and Parthos are the legendary three musketeers known throughout France for their courage and bravery (in this version they appear to be a renaissance version of the A-Team for some reason...)  yet when one adventure in Venice goes wrong with the betrayal of Milady de Winter the three fall from their pedestal of honors and find themselves hiding away, leaving their status to fade to that of a myth. One year on D'Artagnan, an upstart and arrogant young lad travels to Paris in the hopes of becoming a musketeer, while other cogs begin to turn as the Cardinal of France begins his own plot to change the shape of France and take control from the king. The task then falls to the out of luck musketeers who set out to help France in a time of need, gain back their respect and put a stop to the Cardinal's plot. Matthew Mcfayden(Athos),
