Harry Potter and The Deathly Hallows: Part II

'The Boy who lived.... Come to Die'

Hogwarts is in flames, Students and Death eaters battle through the ancient halls and Harry Potter is ready for the final showdown with Lord Voldemort. After leaving off the first part with 3 of the Dark lords Horcruxes destroyed the heroic trio are left with the task of destroying the final 4 pieces of Voldemort's soul. From a daring bank heist atop a dragon from Gringotts to find another Horcrux, Harry believes another is hidden still at Hogwarts and so the group head back to a drastically changed castle under the control of none other than Severus Snape, who under the watchful eye of Voldemort has full control of the magical school of witchcraft and wizardry. Discovering Harry has returned Voldemort prepares his dark followers and takes flight for the final battle, while Professor McGongall, alongside the rest of the teachers and students of Hogwarts and the Order of the Phoenix ready themselves to stand between him and Harry. The race begins to make the Dark lord mortal and defeat him before he has the chance to completely destroy Harry and everyone he loves. It all ends here....

Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson and Rupert Grint display the characters as they always do and it really wasn't going to change for the final chapter which in no way is a bad thing, while having some sour moments in previous entries in the final chapter its all or nothing and each of them when on screen give it their all to show the emotion of Harry, Ron and Hermoine finally finishing the fight against He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named. Ralph Fiennes  is once again superb in his portrayal of the deranged and sinister Dark lord, switching from hysterical vainglorious to rage-full hatred as the events of the film take place and Voldemort comes face to face with the boy who lived for a final time. While all the characters above pulled out all the stops the real emotion and power of the film came from the Good/Evil Severus Snape, who from Day one at Hogwarts shared a complicated relationship with Harry and when all the truths are finally revealed the character of Snape is seen in a completely different light forever, thanks to the amazing skills of Alan Rickman. All the supporting cast too, have their moments of brilliance with the stand outs being Matthew Lewis(Neville Longbottom), Maggie Smith(Professor McGonagall),Helena Bonham Carter(Bellatrix Lestrange) and of course Evanna Lynch(Luna Lovegood). In this film it really did tie together all the characters from over the years and showed why the franchise has become so well loved, through all the fantastic performances.

Now, like every potter i did find it lacking some of the small things which made me love the books but then these aren't the books. This film showed that it could fit all the key emotional and dramatic aspects of the book and still have time to fit in stunning visuals and cramming in the side stories of each character amidst all the tension of the fight against Voldemort. It managed to retain the slick humorous elements whilst keeping the overtly dark theme of the final closing chapter and actually leaved without giving a drawn out ending, focusing more on the story itself. For me like everyone of my age Harry Potter has been a major point of my childhood, after waiting for all the books and watching all the films and even to seeing them age and mature along with us, This is the end to a major motion picture phenomenon and it really is a film that has to be seen not for the least point that its just overall a brilliant film and it truly did go out with a bang and one final long awaited Expelliarmus.

Oz the Great and Powerful

Not the first trip back to Oz but the most well announced arrival of the wizard who happens to look best in green. Oz the great and powerful is the film which tells the story of a petty conman travelling as a small time magician, who finds himself transported to the world Oz via a tornado collision. After a crash landing, the conman finds himself face to face with Theodora herself a witch, who believes the man in front of her is none over than the prophesied wizard who will save them from the wicked and dark forces lurking in the shadows. Promised all the gold in the fabled Emerald City, Oz sets about on a journey up the yellow brick road, though when it comes to sitting the throne Thedora's sister Evenora informs the would be wizard that if he really wants the throne, he'll have to defeat the wicked witch. With greed in abundance, Oz sets out to earn his gold but along the way both the companions he makes and the trials he faces shape him into something that resembl...

Oblivion

Cruise is back doing what comes naturally. No, not impossible missions, this time round Cruise is back on Sci-fi but instead of running from crimes he already commit in the future(How long has it been now since minority report?) he finds himself the maintenance man of a post-apocalyptic earth in 2077. Jack Harper is technician #49 of a group specifically tasked with keeping Earth's remaining defences up and running, alongside partner Victoria he awaits the coming full transportation to the new human colony on Titan. Being one of the last to leave Earth, both are anxious about the final few days of maintenance before they can finally leave the blue planet behind them, though for different reasons. While Victoria is increasingly eager to start a new life, something digs at Jack who still relates some connection to the planet no matter how void of life. It's only after a crashed pod brings an echo of human life back to earth that Jack ...

Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol

Impossibly the fourth in the franchise isn't a mission too far and proves itself a worthy edition. Ethan hunt is back, after breaking out of prison in Moscow with the help of the IMF he's brought up to speed and forced into a new mission to infiltrate the heart of Russia itself, the Kremlin. Mid mission things go sour and the operation is called off as Hunt still in disguise escapes the Kremlin behind him bursts into flames, the Russians view this as an act of war sending Hunt and his team on the run. Meeting with the secretary of defense in secret Hunt is informed that the whole IMF has been disbanded, Hunt is on his own and the orders are to take him in... Unless he chooses to accept a new mission. The president activates ghost protocol meaning the remnants of the IMF must on their own discover who's responsible for bombing the Kremlin, bring them to justice and at the same time prevent a nuclear holocaust sparking between Russia and America.  Tom Cruis...
